LEGAL MANAGEMENT CONSULTS

• A multi-national company retained us here and abroad to do a feasibility study, to evaluate qualifications of foreign nationals for a general counsel position in the Pacific Rim, and finally to conduct a search for the company's chief patent position. The "trifecta" home run was completed in less than a year.

• A boutique intellectual property law firm that was referred to us through another client brought us into the Firm to conduct an evaluation of lawyers, executive staff, and support personnel with a view toward improving productivity and morale. Profits increased 14% the following year.

• The General Counsel Office of an Ivy League University retained our services to perform a 360-degree evaluation of the legal department based upon interviews of executives throughout the Institution and outside counsel as well as the full complement of professionals in the department. The department adopted four of our major initiatives.

• The general counsel of a corporate law department with staff in nine cities around the world engaged us to evaluate the global compensation structure of the department and to review the findings of another commissioned study. The results led to substantial expansion of the department.

• A prominent New York City spin-off firm hired us to improve internal relationships in the firm, and within a year after we counseled the firm it doubled its complement of attorneys.

COUNSEL REVIEWS

• A European headquartered company with substantial operations in the United States asked us to assist the CEO in an analysis of law firm prospects for its expanded business operations in the United States. We recommended three firms. The client asked us to make the final selection.

• A national publishing company hired us to assist in selecting counsel to deal with a complicated antitrust issue that arose very suddenly. We completed the project in three days.

• A large listed company hired us to perform conflict checks and underwrote our representation of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman in their selection of counsel. Our clients accepted our recommendation and ultimately reached a settlement that gave them nearly 100 million dollars.

• The chief executive of a mid-sized company was indicted in a nationally publicized IRS matter. He retained us to recommend counsel in federal court proceedings and was ultimately exonerated.

• The Board of a public company provided the funding for the Vice Chairman to retain our services in connection with retention of counsel for a criminal trial. He was subjected to three trials and finally acquitted. We remained at his side throughout.

ACTIVE CAREER TRANSITIONS

• A nationally recognized television personality hired us to evaluate an employment agreement and to work with counsel in negotiating a separation agreement worth millions of dollars and then used our services to work on a new employment agreement.

• Upon commencement of a reorganized operation of an international apparel company, the president looked to us for help in transition counseling for terminated executives and for shuffled legal personnel.

• A senior partner left a prestigious British law firm, taking 10 lawyers with him. His new firm hired us to coach partners on client development and to market the newly formed firm.

• The President of an international insurance company that was devastated by the events of 9.11 relied upon us for presentation coaching in connection with his relationships with government agencies, company lawyers, and adversaries in lawsuits against the company.

• A giant New York law firm hired us to mediate in the effort to reach an amicable separation agreement with a senior partner after discord that was rapidly moving toward federal litigation.

ATTORNEY RETAINER SEARCHES

• A United States subsidiary of a European company plagued by management criticism retained us to find a new general counsel and thereafter we remained on board to beef up the legal department from two staff counsel to a total of eight lawyers.

• A small law firm engaged us to undertake a massive recruiting program to oversee expansion of the practice from thirty attorneys to seventy, in five countries.

• A renowned Hollywood entertainment company sought our assistance in locating a top executive to work closely with the CEO; unique credentials required for the position included a JD and MBA as well as an MD degree.

• A European Union headquartered law firm retained us to staff a new office in the United States and to expand four others in Europe and Asia. We covered the waterfront-20 cities in a 12 month period.

• A mega law firm hired partners and associates through us in five different departments, spanning seven offices across the United States.
